ABA Therapy Services Ohio
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a well researched and evidence based practice that has been considered the most effective treatment for autism spectrum disorder. ABA seeks to better understand behaviors by observing what is happening in the environment around us, and determine the specific events that are maintaining behaviors.
Pivotal ABA Therapy provides behavior analytic services to children diagnosed with autism ages ranges from 1-6 years old in Northeast Ohio.
By taking a closer look at the environment, we are able to change the events that happen before and after behaviors by applying function based interventions that reduce maladaptive behaviors (such as tantrums, outbursts, repetitive/restricted behaviors, aggression, and self injurious behaviors) AND increase socially important behaviors. The goal is to address the barriers that may be interfering with the child’s daily life, learning, social integration, and ability to access their least restrictive settings and develop important skills sets using the principle of POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT.
Decades of research have examined the positive impact ABA has had on the lives of individuals with autism and their families. ABA has been recognized as an effective treatment for autism spectrum disorder by the US Surgeon General, American Academy of Pediatrics and the National Institute of Mental Health as mentioned by the BACB in the video below.

Parent Involvement / Parent Training
At Pivotal ABA Therapy, parent participation and involvement is an essential and mandatory component of the child’s treatment in order to ensure the emergence of socially significant behaviors in the home, school and community settings.
BCBA will conduct interactive training sessions providing parents the tools to successfully carry out their child’s individualized skill acquisition programs and/or behavior intervention plans across settings.
Parent training sessions will be scheduled at least once a month, or more often based on the clinical recommendations by the team’s BCBA and parent input. Sessions will be conducted in the environment where parent intervention and support is most needed at that time, whether that be in the home or community based settings. Our goal is to provide parents with the knowledge, skills and confidence for NOW and for the FUTURE!
*NEW* PARENT ENRICHMENT PROGRAM
There is ALOT to know about ABA and we understand this can be overwhelming for many families. We also found that teaching families everything we wanted them to know about ABA in private training sessions was sometimes challenging.
That is why our team of behavior analysts have created a 1 YEAR Parent Enrichment Program that provides families with one short video lesson each month (for 12 months) covering a topic area of ABA. In addition, families are given a take away assignment to apply with their child to enhance understanding and practice of that topic. Parents are able to go at their own pace while receiving supplementary education to better support their child in private parent training sessions and outside of therapy!

Pivotal ABA Therapy believes in a team approach when it comes to developing our clients’s ABA treatment programs.
Therefore, it is important for us to continuously collaborate with our client’s school, and other service providers the client may work with. With parent permission, the team’s BCBA is able to communicate and/or meet regularly with the client’s teacher, speech therapist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, feeding specialist, physicians or any other provider to achieve optimal progress across all developmental domains and environments. In addition, our team encourages families to include us in any school related (ETR, IEP) or other service provider team meetings.
